Project Name : Words Over Weapons

Purpose: This project is using elearning materials in schools as part of the Life Skills curriculum in both South Africa and the Netherlands. The materials encourage learners to explore alternatives to violence.

The project is ground-breaking in two ways: 1) the use of elearning to communicate non-violence in South Africa, and 2) the project is keen to achieve Reversed Development. Reversed Development recognises that developed nations have much to learn from developing nations. As such both nations hope to learn from each other's experiences in theis project.

Project name: "Your Voice can stop a Bullet" Gender-Based Violence Project

Purpose: We train service providers, such as CBOs, that deal with gender based violence to use the Firearms Control Act to reduce the use of guns in domestic violence. We encourage communities to use and monitor the implementation of the Act, with a focus on removing guns from violent homes.  We recognise the importance of community organisations, as well as the police, having knowledge of the Firearms Contol Act, and having the ability to use the law.
